O is for Oysters, Opinions and OMGOSH! :D

Welcome back my friendly #AtoZchallenge bloggers!

O is for oysters, you know, those crafty little sea creatures known for making gems from grains of sand? Oysters play a hefty role in my story, Pearl of Pau’maa featured in J.Taylor Publishing’s TIDAL WHISPERS anthology. Without giving too much away — not until I reveal the excerpt in about a week, hehe! — I can show you this image, the seed of my idea for this short story.

Yup, that’s a regular ol’ bouncy ball, filled with water and glitter. But seeing this object sent my imagination spinning.

What if there were a pearl out there the size of my palm? Whoa! Who the heck would have such a thing and why? Something like that would definitely have to be beyond special. Then I wondered, what if someone took it? What ripples of impact would that send throughout the entire world? A bit more brainstorming, a lot of time spent crafting a believable world, character sketches drafted and re-drafted, conflict and tension figured out and SPLISHITY SPLASH! my story was born! :D

O is also for Opinions, as in reader opinions of TIDAL WHISPERS! hehe! Advanced reader copies were issued and the reviews are streaming in!

“Ms. Said had me drawn in from the opening paragraphs.” — Bex Book Nook

“A tale of love and destiny, I was mesmerised by the underwater world and society Ms. Said managed to create with in the space of the short story.” — Author J.C. Martin

And finally O is for OMGOSH! It’s so totally exciting to see the early readers/reviewers enjoying not only my short story but the other three stories in the anthology as well! :D

So, friendly followers, have you had an OMGOSH moment lately?
