Whee! Day one of the A to Z blogging challenge is here! I figured what better way to start this 26 day extravaganza than to dedicate the first post to the ABC’s of me, hehe!
Are you ready for some random tidbits? I hope so, because here we go!
AUTHOR and ARTIST I’m a published author with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, specifically drawing. While we focused on things like figure drawing, illustration and painting, my favorite (non-drawing) class was 3D design, where we’d take 2D objects (like, paper, plastic, masking tape) and create 3D objects out of them. I made a replica of my Doc Martens from a few rolls of masking tape and my team scored huge when we sculpted Godzilla (complete with city on fire) out of yards and yards of trash bags. BUFFALO a powerfully cool animal which also happens to be the mascot for the University of Colorado, my alma mater.
CHORES I despise them. All of them, hehe! The worst though? It’s a toss up between dishes and laundry. They both never seem completely “done.” It’s like, there’s always one more fork or spoon or one more sock lying around. Neither sink nor hamper is ever empty. Well, not for me at least, hehe!
DOG sadly, I have only one now. But I’m happy I have him because he’s so totally awesome! He’s a beefy bull terrier named Jayne, after Firefly/Serenity’s Jayne Cobb. You can see a pic of his sweet face if you go to my bio HERE.
ENGAGE! One of, like, my favorite words Captain Picard from Star Trek says. I can be found saying it often. Take out the trash… ENGAGE! Brew the tea… ENGAGE! Turn left… ENGAGE! Enter the nerd-sphere… already there! hehe!
FACEBOOK PAGE I haz one, hehe, click HERE if you’d “like” to see it.
GRINDSTONE where my nose has been lately.
HORSES! When I was a teenager my dreams came true. Molly was my first horse, an old loyal girl, followed by Flash, my pretty-boy quarterhorse/paint mix and then the graceful prancing saddlebred, Raisin. I had a lot of fun riding them on the trails, in parades and showing them off in the National Western Stockshow.
IMAGINATION I have an active one, hehe!
JORDAN ALMONDS…
are my guilty little pleasure, hehe!
LYMPHOMA a type of cancer my husband had — twice.
MEXICO where some of my mother’s family is from.
NEDERLAND is a small mountain town in Colorado where I used to live when I was in 3rd grade.
OUTSIDERS by S.E. Hinton, is one of like, my favorite books (and movies!). Stay gold, Ponyboy.
PINTEREST! I’m there, pinning things that inspire my writing, quotable quotes, and things that make me giggle and want to share with others. Click HERE to check my boards.
QUOTABLE QUOTE one of my favorites from Seinfeld is “Serenity Now!” the way George’s father screams it so boisterously is like a complete contradiction to what he’s looking for, haha! Or maybe it’s that explosive outburst that’s supposed to bring him serenity. Either way, I giggle when I think of Jerry Stiller lifting his arms up, face turned to the sky and bellowing “SERENITY NOW” the way only Jerry Stiller can. And btw, how can I not like something that has one of my favorite movie titles in it? Serenity, sigh!
REDROCKS amphitheater is like, THE coolest place to attend a concert. I went to see Pearl Jam with two of my besties from High School. awe-some!
SAID is my for real last name.
TWITTER! I’m there too, spouting random thoughts and musings and sharing the occasional link I found helpful while writing. My handle is @Kelly_Said
UNCLE I had an uncle who was a member of the Hell’s Angels.
VOLLEYBALL for as vertically challenged as I am, I did play sports in high school. Volleyball was one (yes, really, hehe!) and soccer was another. I have some pins and what not still attached to my letterwoman’s jacket.
WILLOW is like, another one of my favorite movies! I still giggle when I think of Franjean (Kevin Pollack) saying to Madmartigan, “I stole the baby from you, Daikini! While you were taking a peepee!” hehehehe!
XEROX I used to work for a company who leased XEROX machines to companies, schools and private organizations.
YOUNG ADULTS are the people I write for.
ZOO sometimes I walk my dog at a park near the zoo, and on the right occasion you can hear the lions chuffing or the wolves yipping and howling.
There you have it, the ABC’s of me!
Thanks for stopping by, did you see anything we have in common? Wanna share some of the vowels or consonants of you?

Ha! Very original idea.

You make me laugh so hard. xD I love it. Want more of these! You should try the 30 day drawing challenge or something like that. Uploading your artwork would be super awesome! Love the shoe copycat and want to see more!
Besides, we all know you are an amazing artist =/
I’m jealous sometimes.
haha, thanks Stephanie, it’s a lot of hard work but so much fun!
Awesome. Love reading your posts because you always sound crazier than I am, lol.
hehehe, JAB, guess I shoulda put a disclaimer that opening this post is like opening the pandora’s box lid to my mind
Any kestrels hovering over Nederland?
And yes, this was a very good way to get this started.
Hi Bob! I don’t remember seeing any hovering in those high skies, hehe! Thanks for reading and comment, much appreciated!
Very fun approach and I’ve learned all sorts of new things about my anthology mate!
Hi Claire, thanks! I learned a lot about you from your first AtoZ challenge post, hehehehe! You’re a trickster level expert!

Hi Mary Ann! Thanks! I’m trying to pace myself on Pinterest – so easy to pin until the wee hours, hehe!
Wow, Kelly. What a neat idea for a post. Looks like we have a lot more in common than just our writing.
Hi there Vonny!
Thank you! Yup, I totally knew there were several reasons why I like you very much
Hi, Kelly. Thanks for sharing all of the cool and random factoids. I, too, love Jordon Almonds, hate chores (I’m currently doing laundry as I catch up with blogging) and wondered whether or not “Said” was your real last name. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
The FBI never returned my calls…
Have a great day!

James!
Hey you! So glad you could drop in and check out my first ever A to Z challenge post
And yeah, those kind of requests take time, you know, the FBI has to gather all the volumes to the file they have on me, hehe!
Love the post. I’ll have to remember to like you on FB, too! Wonderful facts.
Hi Erin! Why, thank you! I appreciate you stopping by, and also, thanks for introducing me to Joe Abercrombie on your A to Z challenge post today
